Here are two new Yankee paintings I’ve done in the past week. They’re small pieces, but both turned out a little different, and better, than I initially envisioned. I wanted to do a Jeter “Mr. November” piece for the anniversary last week. I was originally going to do a pencil drawing or watercolor of the closeup of him and his face, rounding the bases and raising his fist, when I came across a pic I hadn’t seen before, a wide shot from behind with the Stadium and clock showing the time in the background. I decided to do a little acrylic painting on black mixed media paper, and I really like the way it came out. A nice balance between photorealism and impressionism, and the colors really pop off the black.
The second is a watercolor painting featuring the iconic image of Mantle kneeling in the on deck circle. I was working from a black and white photo reference and decided to get a little more expressionistic with the color. Instead of a straight up shading of his uniform I decided to use a little orange, purple, and blue, and I really like the way it came out. I’m going to start incorporating a little more creativity with color into more and more of my pieces. I also like the composition, only painting the on deck circle part of his environment, and then just using a plain yellow oval for the background. It gives the whole thing a really warm, nostalgic, almost Rockwell-esque feeling.

If you’d like to commission something special, just shoot me a message through here, but get the order in ASAP to have it done and delivered by Christmas.
I’m also going to be doing a weekly Yankee live art stream and chat every Thursday to coincide with new podcast episode drops. They’ll generally start between 6 and 10. I’m not committing to a strict time yet. I’m also not sure if they’ll be on Facebook Live or Twitch, or even Instagram Live. I’ll probably do a little on each for the next few weeks and see where the audience is. If I have a decent weekly viewership, I’ll settle down and commit to a sole platform and more consistent start time. Right now, we’ll just see how things go. To receive notifications on when and where I’ll be streaming, become a subscriber. Free subscribers will get notified as well. Thanks for visiting and for the support, enjoy the pics and let’s go Yankees!
